Bowhunting Conservation Workshop

Winneconne Youth Archery, in a partnership with Raised at Full Draw and WI S3DA Conservation, hosted a youth Bowhunting Conservation Workshop on August 10 at Critter's Wolf River Sports. The 15 attendees to this all day workshop received an introduction to skills needed to be a safe, ethical, and successful bowhunter.

Participants received instruction on hunting equipment and safety, as well as hands on experience in climbing into and shooting from a treestand with a safety harness, ground blinds, and blood trailing.

New this year was a saddle hunting station, letting everyone try shooting from the newer style of hunting. Archers also had an opportunity to shoot recurve and longbows.

All participants received a copy of the NFAA Explore Bowhunting student handbook, courtesy of a donation by Wisconsin Traditional Archers.

We finished the day with a discussion on hunting ethics and successes the WI DNR has had in the reintroduction and management of several species to the state.

A huge thanks to Gregg and Mark from Raised At Full Draw for bringing the equipment trailer and helping instruct, Critter's for use of the facility, and the numerous volunteers that helped throughout the day!

Interested in learning more about bowhunting? Raised at Full Draw hosts an annual 4 day overnight camp for youth ages 12-17. It's a fantastic program that prepares our youth a lifetime of outdoor adventure.
